NFRC opens UK Roofing Awards 2027 nominations with 8 January deadline
The roofing trade body is taking free entries across 16 project categories and three individual awards until 8 January 2027, ahead of a ceremony on 16 April at the InterContinental-The O2 in London.
NFRC has opened nominations for the UK Roofing Awards 2027, with entries closing on Friday 8 January 2027, earlier than usual because the ceremony moves from its early May slot to 16 April in London.
The trade body said entry is free and that trade and supplier members can put forward multiple projects across 16 project categories, alongside three awards for individuals: Young Roofer of the Year, Health and Safety Individual of the Year and the Local Hero award, which is entered via SIG Roofing.
James Talman, CEO of NFRC, said members should "put your best work forward and be in with a chance of gaining industry recognition and build your reputation as the best in UK roofing".
NFRC's event page confirms the 2027 ceremony will be held on 16 April 2027 at the InterContinental-The O2, London, with Jason Manford confirmed as guest host. Neither the venue nor the host is mentioned in the nominations announcement.
The individual awards
For a skills audience, the three individual categories are the people story. According to NFRC's categories page, Young Roofer of the Year is open to an apprentice, a qualified roofer with no more than three years' experience or a roofing student, aged not more than 25.
The Health and Safety Individual award, the same page says, honours someone who has gone beyond their normal duties to ensure the health and safety of those around them.
NFRC has also asked entrants to show PPE and good health and safety practice in every submitted photograph. It advised that images should ideally be at least 2MB and show the project throughout, rather than only on completion, and that too many drone shots should be avoided as they are often very similar.
Who can enter and how entries are judged
Beyond NFRC's own trade and supplier members, the association said members of seven other bodies can nominate projects: FTMRC, GRO, LRWA, MAC, MCRMA, NFRC CPS and SPRA.
The shortlisting panel and judges score project entries on five elements, NFRC said: complexity, challenge, workmanship, safety and project management.
The project categories range from roof slating, roof tiling, leadwork and heritage roofing to green roofing, solar, rainscreen facade, single ply, mastic asphalt and liquid waterproofing. There is a category for projects under £25,000 and a multi-discipline category for projects over £500,000.
The deadline
NFRC said the 8 January closing date is earlier than usual to accommodate an April event rather than the usual early May fixture. It advised that there will not be multiple extensions and that entries should be prepared and submitted as early as possible.
In practice the change to the entry window is small. For the 2026 cycle, NFRC's earlier announcement gave a closing date of 9 January 2026, so the 2027 deadline sits one day earlier in the calendar while the ceremony itself moves about three weeks forward. The category structure, 16 project awards plus three individual awards, is unchanged from 2026.
Scale of the event
NFRC said the awards attract more than 900 guests each year and are considered the biggest event in the roofing calendar. Its report on the 2026 ceremony, held on 8 May 2026, recorded more than 900 guests and 21 awards presented, with Radmat Building Products again headline sponsor. Talman described that event as a sell-out, with guests from the UK, Europe and the United States.
NFRC's 2026 nominations announcement had described the previous year's event as bringing together more than 850 contractors, suppliers and merchants. The 2025 awards, held on 9 May 2025 at the InterContinental London, The O2, were billed by NFRC as the 19th edition.
Radmat Building Products Ltd returns as headline sponsor for 2027. Recticel Insulation UK sponsors the drinks reception and after-party, and SIG Roofing sponsors the Local Hero award. Other sponsors named by NFRC are Bauder, CUPA PIZARRAS, Mastic Asphalt Council, Marley, Kingspan Insulated Panels UK & Ireland, ROCKWOOL UK and Unilin Insulation - UK & Ireland.
NFRC, established in 1892, describes itself as the largest and most influential roofing trade association in the UK. The UK nominations opened three days after the association held its Scottish Roofing Awards 2026 at the Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow on Friday 30 October.
Entries for the UK Roofing Awards 2027 close on Friday 8 January 2027.
