The Scottish Electrical Charitable Training Trust (SECTT) manages Scotland's industry approved scheme for training electrical apprentices, acting for the Scottish Joint Industry Board. Established in 1990, it runs a pre-employment assessment for prospective apprentices, an adult trainee scheme and support for employers who take apprentices on, and states that over 20,000 adult trainees and apprentices have trained through it since then. The trust, based at Bush Estate in Midlothian, also administers the Approved Competence Assessment for qualified electricians and the CEC scheme, which recognises existing electrical qualifications.
